Personnel Protective Equipments
- “ISI” marked Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs) is to be considered necessary for use in the construction site.
- All persons employed at the construction site shall use safety helmets, safety shoes and goggles as minimum safety requirements.
For other types of works, persons working in that area shall also use the required PPEs,
as advised by the Site-incarge/ Safety Officer of CLIENT/OWNER.
- Workers involved in mixing asphaltic materials, cement and lime mortars shall use Gumboots,
safety goggles, hand gloves and proper respirator. Their shall be provision of proper ventillation.
- Welders involved in welding and gas-cutting works shall use face shields. The persons
assisting the welders shall use safety goggles. Protective goggles shall be used during chipping and grinding.
- Stone breakers shall use protective goggles and maintain sufficiently safe intervals of distance.
- All persons working with above 3m of height above ground or floor and exposed to risk of falling down
shall use safety belts. In places where the use of safety belts is not practical, it is recommended to
use suitable safety net and shall be employed under proper valid permit.
- When workers are employed in sewers and inside manholes, which are in use, the contractor shall ensure
that the manholes are opened and are adequately ventilated before starting the work. The atmosphere inside
the space shall be properly checked for the presence of any harmfulc gas or oxygen deficiency and recorded
in the confined space entry permit, availability of standby person at manhole during the operation is a must.
The manholes opened shall be cordoned off with suitable railing and provided with warning signals or caution boards
or barricade tape to prevent accidents. There shall be proper illumination in the night.
