Pipes

Two categories of pipes are Seamless & ERW Pipe. The main Difference between these to pipes is that the Seamless Piping is produced when steel in the billet is heated and then it is either pushed or pulled over a mandrel with a piercing point is located in the center of the billet. This produces a hollow tube or “concentric circular shell”. This hollow tube is then further processed until it becomes the desired size and wall thickness. During this whole manufacturing process nowhere welding is involved, so we can say that there is no welding line in seamless pipes.

ERW pipe is basically cold formed from a steel plate and rolled into a round pipe section, and the edges are heated with the help of high frequency welder. Finally the welding is inspected electronically and it is further cooled down with the help of air and water.

Seamless pipe is used in high pressure and high temperature application as the chances of failures is very less due to seam as they don’t have any welding. ERW Pipe is widely used in fences, scaffolding, utility pipelines, machinery, etc.
