Painting

- Respirators shall be provided when paint is applied, safety of personnel in vicinity also should be considered while painting.

- All solvent-based paints, thinners shall be stored in separate storage and kept under proper surveillance.

- Sources of ignition such as smoking shall not be allowed in places where paints and other flammable substances are stored or used. A caution board, with the instructions written in national / regional language, “SMOKING – STRICTLY PROHIBITED” shall be displayed in the vicinity where painting is in progress or where paints are stored. Symbols shall also be used for caution boards.

- Their shall be provision of IS marked First Aid and Fire Fighting equipment’s at a place where flammable paints are stored or used.

- When painting work is done in a confined space, If required workers shall wear suitable air breathing apparatus. Work shall be carried out under a valid work permit and supervision.

- Epoxy resins and their formations used for painting shall not be allowed to come in contact with the workers skin. The workers shall use PVC gloves and / suitable barrier creams.

- Adequate ventilation shall be provided especially when working with hot resin mixes.

- Personal hygiene shall be practiced during the painting works at all times.

- Workers shall thoroughly wash hands and feet before leaving the work. Work clothes shall be changed and laundered frequently.
